New Machine and Warehouse Expansion

New Machine and Warehouse Expansion

One Machine, Two Machine, Three Machine………..

Gateway have made another significant investment within their UK based Machine Shop, by adding a new machine. The Haas Super Mini Mill 2 is a 3-axis CNC Milling machine that has allowed The Machine Shop to expand their capacity and capabilities, cutting their lead times in half on custom geometry cores!

With the increased Machine Shop floor space, this has allowed for a designated cleaning, testing, and packing area for a more efficient production line and improving on a better testing environment. The space provides room for further expansion and allows Gateway to support larger volume machining orders.

Joshua Bailey, Gateway's technical Director, comments on the machine shop expansion: “This expansion allows us to further support customers across the world with our dedicated facility and provides us with further capacity to support medium to large volume orders. This is a reflection of the CanDo attitude of our team who always put the customers needs first. It also allows us to extend our capabilities and push the boundaries of what is possible, we have worked closely with HAAS for many years and have customised this machine to allow us to improve our surface finishes, reduce cycle times and drive efficiency into everything we do.”

Because of this, Gateway has increased its storage capacity by 40% by utilising a new mezzanine and a complete warehouse restructure. Team Gateway has been working at full capacity and more by providing its customers with a seamless service from start to finish.

The Gateway warehouse redesign also consists of a designated forklift and pallet area, a separate Kanban Storage floor and ample space for our profile lines that we hold in stock.

Dave Kirkham, Gateways Warehouse Manager, commented on the warehouse expansion: “This has allowed me and my team to work more efficiently as to effectively create ‘The Perfect Box’ for all of our customers’ needs.”
