Gateway doesn’t only maintain stock for the brands it represents, but since inception, it has been working with global OEM and CEM accounts to design and implement a range of logistic solutions for its customers. It thus augments the product benefits of its linecard and helps customers drive efficiencies into the way they procure products. Customers have in the past reduced their total cost of acquisition, waste and downtime. With Gateway’s help, some have decreased their design-to-market time whilst upholding quality standards. Supply Chain Solutions
More than two-thirds of the cost of component acquisition is attributable to non-components’ costs such as purchasing, planning and expediting; transportation and packaging; goods inwards inspection and receipt processing; warehousing and stock management; shortage resolutions and obsolescence management; residual and excess stock write-off; pre-production planning, kitting, component management, assembling and programming; and invoice processing and reconciliation.
Gateway has a wealth of experience and management expertise in constructing supply solutions that focus on reducing the costs of acquisition. In parallel, we aim to keep a constant downward pressure on component prices through our product solutions programmes.
Our analytic process allows customers to determine which items from the bills of material they want to include in the programme. They also tell us what support features would help them minimize work and costs. On our end, based on dynamic modelling, we assess demand patterns at line level to determine appropriate buffer stock levels, taking into account lead-time and demand vagaries. Then we structure a bespoke supply solution to minimise the amount of inventory needed within your business. Finally, we agree with you a replenishment pattern that ensures you have no production down-time.
In addition, you can call product off using one of our electronic trading solutions (or even ask us to construct an e-solution matched to your specific needs), and have it delivered ‘direct-to-line’ on a ‘just-in-time’ arrangement. In line with our ESG guidelines, we use replenishable ‘green’ containers that we both deliver and collect so as to minimise the product handling within your premises.
Product Solutions
On every major bill-of-material that we receive we take the time to analyse the list of specified parts to identify key packaging opportunities; risky single-source items; items in obsolescence; and potential areas for cost saving by recommending alternative sources.
All of our key customer-facing personnel have in excess of 15 years industry experience. With the combined expertise of its senior staff and over a 100 years of combined industry service, Gateway is one of few companies that can boast such a wealth of knowledge.
Gateway people know when something is possible and they always run the extra mile to make it happen. That’s why when a customer calls, they expect us to say “Yes, we can do that”, because invariably – we can! And if on the odd occasion the solution does not exist, our technical and engineering teams will work with the customer to design one.
Gateway works closely with the technical support teams of the franchises that it represents and would be happy to organise demonstration days and seminars with customers’ engineering staff.

VMI & KANBAN Supply Solutions

Quality Solutions
Gateway is committed to upholding the quality standards set out in the procedures of the accreditation bodies to which it belongs, but it also prides itself in providing solutions to generic and customer-specific issues where a viable solution can be designed.
Inspection procedures at Gateway performs a rigorous and detailed inwards inspection process to all receipts made into its premises; but will offer customers enhanced inspection support to ensure that additional levels of standards are maintained, including enhanced visual inspection, testing, counting and marking services. Gateway will decant into customer-specified supply multiples; have product reeled or re-reeled; affix customer-specific labelling to product; and if required will house the parts in dedicated customer-specific locations.
Gateway can offer electronic testing services to check for product provenance and integrity as well as offering a service to replace ROHS compliant plating or terminations with SnPb .
All these services are governed by our stringent quality control and inspection procedures.
Within six months of its inception in August 2000, Gateway gained BS EN ISO9001:2000 accreditation, and has since progressed through continual improvement to the new ISO9001:2015 standard. We see it as a testament to its quality systems programme and to its business management and bespoke operating system, developed in house by its team of Quality and Systems Support staff.
