Introducing The Ferrite Machine Shop

At the exhibition, we will be presenting the capabilities of The Ferrite Machine Shop, our specialist facility dedicated to precision ferrite machining and custom magnetic components.

Based in the UK, the Machine Shop was created to support customers who require bespoke ferrite cores and magnetic components tailored to specific electrical and mechanical requirements.

Key capabilities include:

• Custom ferrite core machining from block materials
• Precision gapping to achieve specific inductance or AL values
• Prototype and small production runs
• Bespoke geometries produced using CNC machining
• Engineering support from design through to production

Gateway maintains a large stock of ferrite materials and cores, including products from major manufacturers such as Ferroxcube, Fair-Rite, Magnetics, MMG, and TDK, enabling rapid machining and short lead times.

Precision Ferrite Machining for Advanced Applications

The Ferrite Machine Shop supports a wide range of industries where high performance magnetic components are critical.

Applications include:

• Power supplies and power converters
• Transformers and inductors
• EMC and EMI suppression systems
• Industrial electronics and automation
• Renewable energy and electric vehicle systems

Our machining capabilities allow us to create custom geometries from blocks, as well as carry out specialised processes such as toroid splitting, air gap creation, slot cutting, and lapping to achieve high precision surfaces.

We can also machine to extremely tight tolerances, including:

• Inductance and AL tolerances down to +/-1%
• Dimensional tolerances down to +/-0.005mm
• General machining down to +/-0.05mm

This level of control ensures that every part meets the electrical performance requirements of the final application.
